Cooperative Efforts
By Sherri Goudy
“The devotion, the efficiency, the self-sacrifice of the suffrage workers in Ohio will never be known. Their strength lay in their cooperation.”
--Ida Husted Harper, The History of Woman Suffrage, 1922
Women empower women. Three words that mean so much. The cooperation of women working together have accomplished tremendous things in our history. Founding cultural institutions, promoting education, suffrage, racial injustices, equal pay, equal rights. Women united to face challenges head on and to overcome incredible odds.
Tonight, Children’s Historical Publishing is unveiling our new book about some of these incredible women. With the goal of uplifting the community, they came together to make it happen. In Empowered Women, you will read about their struggles and triumphs. Though just a sampling, we hope it encourages the children who read it to see themselves in the stories. To see someone who looks like them, who lives where they live, who came from a similar background, do extraordinary things. There is power in that.
