Beginning with the Revolutionary War and continuing through the present day, Empowered Women:  Ohio Women in the Military shows the progression of women in the military as they confronted numerous barriers, challenged stereotypes, and explored new opportunities.  These women set out on pathways that laid a foundation for those who would follow. Each woman’s unique journey would become part of the vast history of military women and reminds us why we must see today’s veterans as both men and women. 

Empowerment

Our nation’s history of military women is one continuous story of empowerment.  It is the story of the journey of women, that who through struggles, hard work, and perseverance, showed society who they were.  And…who they could be.

We invite you to join these women on their journeys.  We invite you to travel along with them as they made significant accomplishments, as well as when they struggled with ongoing challenges from one war to the next.

At the end of the book, you will find interviews with women veterans from Ohio.  Their stories echo the empowerment theme and story of the book—one that shows the lasting impact on our military and on the women who serve today.

Please join us throughout the next several weeks as we explore the rich history of our women veterans.
