Torchbearers of Dayton – Part 5

Thanks for joining us for our fifth installment of my photo exhibit celebrating women’s history in Dayton! Today’s blog is at the very heart of our focus on women’s empowerment - suffrage. We are closely approaching the centennial anniversary of suffrage in the United States, and Dayton women played a role in that. As was the case throughout the nation, once suffrage passed, women wanted to provide education to those who had newly acquired voting rights. The issues and who was on the ballot were of concern to women who had never participated before. The images below will give you a small glimpse into the role women in Dayton played after suffrage passed and was enacted.
